Ensuring your child has a healthy diet can be challenging.  Many convenience foods and “child friendly” meals have high levels of refined carbohydrates and are laden with sugar or salt.  Often, these foods also contain flavourings and artificial colourings.  Such foods fill children with empty calories and, as a result, children of all ages today suffer from nutritional deficiencies.

Recent research suggests that the first six years of a child’s diet are critical as childhood dietary choices influence food preferences well into adulthood and impact long-term health.  It is important to expose our children to different flavours and textures early on and to steer them away from overly sweet or salty foods.

Yasmina can help address the following ailments commonly experienced by children:

Attention Deficit Disorder - Anemia - Asthma - Constipation and diarrhoea - Eczema and psoriasis - Food intolerances or allergies - Frequent colds and infections - Sinusitis - Urinary tract infections

It is Yasmina’s role and responsibility as a nutritional therapist to ensure that parents have the best possible nutritional advice that enables them to provide development-enhancing and immune-boosting dietary habits for their children.

PRENATAL NUTRITION

Pregnant woman

Having a baby is a most profound, meaningful and life-changing event.  The food that you choose to eat will provide the only source of nutrition for your growing baby.  Your baby’s organs become fully formed during the first three months of pregnancy, so it is imperative that you provide your baby with all the necessary building blocks through your diet.  Moreover, it is not only important that you eat the right foods, but also, in the correct quantities.  This will ensure optimal health for your baby and a smooth pregnancy for you.  Eating well is the best possible start to a new life.

Healthy nutrition during pregnancy can reduce the risk of:

Birth defects - Low birth weight - Allergies or conditions such as eczema and asthma - Morning sickness - Anemia - Pre-eclampsia - Fatigue - Constipation - Mood swings

Once you are pregnant, the nutritional demands on your body change significantly.  Yasmina will work with you to adapt your diet to ensure optimal nutrition for your developing baby; and together, we will monitor your progress each trimester.
